Hamlet: The Empty Stage

2022

My stage design for Hamlet is a synthesis of Eastern and Western aesthetics, where the minimalist elegance of Japanese architecture counterpoints the dramatic intensity of Shakespeare's text. By adapting the design to the unique proportions of Molavi Hall, I have created a space that not only accommodates the performance but also serves as a dynamic element within the narrative. Through rigorous research, meticulous sketching, and precise model making, I have developed a visual language that explores profound themes of existence, retribution, and morality while fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
